How did you get your PSC nickname?
I stole it from a Marcel Duchamp essay called 'The Creative Act'
"Good artists copy, great artists steal" Pablo Picasso
What is your real name and age?
Bill - 35
Where are you from and what do you like best about being there?
I am from long island, ny... The best thing about living here is I am minutes away from "the city that never sleeps", "the greatest city in the world to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there"
What do you do to keep the bills paid?
I am a graphic artist for a printing company and make side money as a gigolo for sexy rich ladies.
What do you do in your spare time?
play softball, cook, watch movies, listen to music, play fantasy football and baseball
How did you find PSC, and what do you like most about the site?
I don't remember, probably through google. I like the fact that people here help each other more than they compete with each other.
If you could change one thing at PSC, what would it be and why?
change it from Photoshop Contest to Photoshop Club, because it feels more like a club to me.
Is there any other information about you would like to pass on?
I would, but it's a secret.
How many hours per week do you spend on PSC?
either 30 or nothing
What other sites, not Photoshop related, do you like to surf?
amazon.com
What tools do you use to chop?
CS2 on a Mac
What gets your creative juices flowing, how do you create a masterpiece?
I love to make people laugh, especially myself. I am my greatest fan. My works all have a little bit of humor in them, but sometimes a little too much. When I get too complicated or deep, my work suffers, my best works come from the simplest ideas.
What inspires you?
competition
Do you have a system? Does a chop have to be done a certain way following steps or are you a messy chopper and just go with the flow?
just go with the flow
What style of chop do you prefer to create?
funny
Filters, brushes and techniques: Which do you use, and not use, and why?
I like to play around with them for different effects, especially if I'm hard up for an idea or just bored, but for most of my better works, I spend so much time and effort working on the piece that I often forget to use filters and brushes and tecniques.
When do you know that you have it just right, or is it constant changes up until, or after, you post?
My works are all works in progress. I am never truly satisfied with a piece. I have to separate myself from my work, by not looking at it for weeks or months to truly appreaciate it, but even then I will get new ideas and will want to improve them.
What is the limit to what you will chop?
I will chop anything. I have a strong stomach and a sick sense of humor. I love to annoy and shock people just as much as (or maybe even more so) I love to amuse them. If you LOVE or HATE my work, then I am happy. Indiffence is the only thing I can't stand.
Are there any tips and/or tricks that you would like to pass along to less experienced choppers?
Keep an open mind and keep trying and learning. Draw what you see. We are ALL artists from the day we were born, we live to create and destroy. Try everything once and do what you love. IF you don't love the way you work or how your work comes out, adapt and change. BE your own best critic and fan. You have to love what you are doing, whatever it is, otherwise it will show. Do not pay attention to how many votes you do or do not get, pay more attention to what people post about your work; what they like and dislike, what tips they have and what you can improve and learn from. There are a lot of great people here who love to help, when you see a piece by someone else that puts you in awe, don't be afraid to ask them how and why they did what they did.
What is your favorite type of source image, and why?
I hate objects, people and machines, I have a hard time distancing my ideas from the originals. Nature makes me feel more creative.
There is often talk about how the source is used and to what extent it should be. What are your views on all sources, outside source use and animations?
My view is, this is a photoshop place. If you can do it in photoshop anything is possible or acceptable.
What is your preferred resource for outside source images?
google
In your opinion what makes a good chop?
Balance between idea, execution and effort. You must have all three working together. Too much of one and not enough of the others and your image will suffer. Skill and expericence help of course as well, but a newbie with a great idea that he/she puts love, time and effort into will win.
Do you have a system to get things started?
No, I look at the source until I get an idea or two and begin before I lose my inspiration.
Have you ever completed a chop and then decided not to enter it in the contest? If so, why?
Several times, some I thought were too vulgar for younger viewers, but most of the time it's because I have 3 ideas and could only post 2 of them.
After you finish your chop do you just post it or seek opinions of family and/or fellow choppers first?
I just post it
If some one finds a fault in your work do you change it or stay with what you posted?
It depends. If I have time to change it and agree that it should be changed I will.
What qualities do you look for when deciding to vote on a chop?
I look for something that makes me laugh or that makes me say, "DAMN, why didn't I think of that???" but most of the time I am here, I'd rather chop and post than vote.
Some member prefer not to vote for filtered chops or animations. Is there any particular style/type of chop you won't vote for?
No
Time is always a factor, how much time do you spend on a chop and how much time is too much?
Time is not a factor to me. If I love a chop I am working on and keep myself uninterrupted and inspired, hours can go by without me noticing. most of the time I spend on average 10-15 minutes or until I lose inspiration or energy. Sometimes I'll spend 2 hours, but most of those end up being cluttered overkill. Some of my best works have taken 5 hours while some have taken less than 5 minutes.
We all love to get votes. Now are you a constant vote checker or do you just let it go and check once a day? (be honest)
I check my votes constantly, especially if I am in the top 3-5
What chop of yours did not do as well as you expected?
