How did you get your PSC nickname?
I was new to PS and the site..and figured that since i was new.....most of my work would look like DEW-DEW. Now that i look back on my past work and compaire it to my work today.....IT's still DEWDEW.....but one day it will be THE DEWDEW...;p
What is your real name and age?
My name is Neal....and i am 36 years old.
Where are you from and what do you like best about being there?
I am from hicktown in South Carolina. What's to like?
What do you do to keep the bills paid?
Why??...who sent you?? Who says i have bills??...i'll have to see the warrent or some id first.
What do you do in your spare time?
As little as possible but, i will procrastinate from time to time.
How did you find PSC, and what do you like most about the site?
Google told me to come. The devil made me stay...and the darkness won't let me leave.
If you could change one thing at PSC, what would it be and why?
I can't really say i would change much at all about the site....Maybe anon voting for the Daily contest. You will have Assholes anywhere ya go....but i'm starting to think this is HOMEBASE to many of them.
Is there any other information about you would like to pass on?
nnnnaaaaahhhhhh....really this is more than i cared to type....but, Blue came up with this page to help everyone get to know each other. I think that was a great idea...and so ...i am taking the time to respond.
How many hours per week do you spend on PSC?
WAY TOO MANY.....really i spend at least a couple hours a day here....It's just part of my everyday chaos.
What other sites, not Photoshop related, do you like to surf?
I just Surf........My internet is my library.....when i have a question...i go look up the answer......i don't chat.....not a member of a bunch of different sites...i just SURF. Anything to keep my mind stimulated.....if i'm not busy thinking....i'm sleeping.
What tools do you use to chop?
This is sad... but, i use a 15 inch laptop running BILLware xp.....and now i have a small tablet...with those i use PS to chop.
What gets your creative juices flowing, how do you create a masterpiece?
Lap dances...Ooh, not that creative juice ;p....sorry, i'm not into masterpiece's. I like drawing. Since a child i have drawn. I guess It takes me away from LIFE for just a little while. PS is just another way of doing it. So i don't see masterpieces...i just draw what i feel today.
What inspires you?
Truley...someone saying i can't...that inspires me.....i'm hardheaded....and can't is not in my vocab.......other than that...it changes...what i like today...i don't tommorrow...so...it just has to hit me or catch my eye.
Do you have a system? Does a chop have to be done a certain way following steps or are you a messy chopper and just go with the flow?
I'm Mr. Breeze...the flow rider. What's nice about using ps are the layers. I do a quick mock-up of my idea...then i go back to each layer and fine-tune it.
What style of chop do you prefer to create?
i like playing with whats there....but if i have a good idea....i'll chop it to pieces.
Filters, brushes and techniques: Which do you use, and not use, and why?
I use everything Ps has....i make my own brushes as i need them....and i use a filter if i like it.....As far as add-ons...i have never found the need for them. Most can be achieved with the tools provided.
When do you know that you have it just right, or is it constant changes up until, or after, you post?
i don't know......but i can tell when it starts downhill..so i usually go to that point.
What is the limit to what you will chop?
I'm not into crazy nasty chops.....dont care for gore...and could give two shits for politics...other than that....the skys the limit.
Are there any tips and/or tricks that you would like to pass along to less experienced choppers?
Yes....learn to use layer mask.....it makes it so easy...Also learn to use your Brushes....it will be the real difference between you....... and someone who loves copy/paste. Take the time to learn about JITTER....and Fade....and GET a TABLET....ohhhh how sweet...Photoshop was made for it....REALLY.
What is your favorite type of source image, and why?
nature, and outdoor photo's....after that....anything that has potential to become something. Some are just complete crap...If you would not want it for a external...why chop it.......i HATE .....looking up shots....looking down shots...or anthing Very Busy....like a Crowd shot or Traffic.
There is often talk about how the source is used and to what extent it should be. What are your views on all sources, outside source use and animations?
It should be reconizable......no searching for it....using a little source....then adding a bunch of externals is o.k...but a chop should be about the source......if you loose the source...you did it wrong.....IMHO....The source is the CHOP....taking pieces of the source and creating something totally different....is CREATIVE....but that is not a chop....The source is what you can transform it into....but i think changing the original....while keeping with the Theme...in some way...is what it is all about.
What is your preferred resource for outside source images?
i don't really have one...i need to look into using/finding one...i can say that GOGGLE sucks....most images are of bad quality and size...but i use it alot still...hmmmmm....there is a lesson there ....somewhere.
In your opinion what makes a good chop?
I like when People take a bunch of photos and use them for the texture and things to make thier own work......that's is a CHOP.....but, as long as it's clean....neat....and in good taste...i like it....a good chop should look authentic.....It does not have to be Realistically correct.....but it needs to have good lighting....and color...or at least some over the top contrast for B&W. I also think that a good chop is one that
Do you have a system to get things started?
No not really.....i mean..first i have to have an idea...but other than that...i don't do no special Vodoo worship or anything......I SAVE THAT FOR AFTER....but i like to chop when i am alone the most....I like to do it in one sitting.
Have you ever completed a chop and then decided not to enter it in the contest? If so, why?
No....when i start one...it's usually is hard just to turn it into my idea......sometimes i hit my mark.....but mostly i just get as close as i can...hell...what's it matter anyway.
After you finish your chop do you just post it or seek opinions of family and/or fellow choppers first?
I just post it....Family will say they love it...because they love YOU...friends would put it down if... it was 14k gold....so i just post it.
If some one finds a fault in your work do you change it or stay with what you posted?
It all depends...if a lot have voted for it....i just leave it and learn....out of respect for the votes.....but if it is something that needs fixing...i will try.
What qualities do you look for when deciding to vote on a chop?
I like cleaness....the cleaner...the more i vote....but the most important thing i try to keep in mind is what the artist was trying to do.....you can't kick someone for trying...and you can tell if they tried....Shadows, and other things are not as important as encouraging the person...Everyone..no matter what they say would love to be the top vote getter...it makes you and feel accepted..it's like a pat on the back...but...i cant stand to see someone who try's everyday and they get 3 votes...just the guts to keep going is worth the stupid vote.
Some member prefer not to vote for filtered chops or animations. Is there any particular style/type of chop you won't vote for?
Art is a individual thing.....so what process you take to make it means little to me....i am not a PHOTO PRO...never going to be ....have no desire to be....i like to create...so ....if you use a filter to achive the effect...Great. That's why they are there....The one's who don't like filter's are close minded...hell they could be the Next Picasso...if they would just try one.
Time is always a factor, how much time do you spend on a chop and how much time is too much?
Average BS chop can take 15 min - 2 hours. I do most the chops here the day before they are due. I'm the king of PROCRASTINATE
We all love to get votes. Now are you a constant vote checker or do you just let it go and check once a day? (be honest)
Really it all depends on my chop...if i am proud of it...i check...if it's justa BLAH...then i just let it go....but i check for comments when i see a new one on the homepage.
What chop of yours did not do as well as you expected?
All of them???.......are you kidding??.....i thought they were "Hot Shit on a Silver Platter"...but... come to find out they were just "Cold Turds on a Paper Plate.
What do you consider your best chop so far?
Don't have one.....they are all so fantastic..and just "pure joy" to look at.
What do you consider your worst chop so far?
all of them...i like to think... i'm getting better each time........no matter what the evidence says.
Who is your favorite chopper out there and why?
ME...but just because i know me personally....i have the kindest heart..and take the time to autograph every kids photos...i really don't have a FAV..so i will try and find one...if ya mean here at PSC.....ME again....the others are just so-so...it's hard not to stand out.
What do you NOT like to see in a chop, and why not?
I am open to anything....that's in good taste.....it's the different veiws of the same object that i look at most.
What is the best chop of all time?
The PORKCHOP....i love them....Lambchops are also good....but a bit expensive for a good one.
Do you have any other PSC related comments to add?
SHIT...was the other answers suppose to be PSC related????....oops.
