How did you get your PSC nickname?
Its an abbreviation of my name. If you have read this before its not an abbreviation its an anagram :)
What is your real name and age?
Where are you from and what do you like best about being there?
Colchester, it has great pubs
What do you do to keep the bills paid?
As little as possible
What do you do in your spare time?
If I'm not at the pub I'm chopping
How did you find PSC, and what do you like most about the site?
I cant remember how I first found it, probably searching for a picture and followed the link.
If you could change one thing at PSC, what would it be and why?
Is there any other information about you would like to pass on?
How many hours per week do you spend on PSC?
Too many and not enough, if that makes sense.
What other sites, not Photoshop related, do you like to surf?
Youtube, etc etc I normally start clicking links and just see where they take me.
What tools do you use to chop?
Windows, Athlon Duel core currently using CS3 Beta wacom Intuos3
What gets your creative juices flowing, how do you create a masterpiece?
What inspires you?
Beer, and other peoples work
Do you have a system? Does a chop have to be done a certain way following steps or are you a messy chopper and just go with the flow?
Normally very messy, layers not named, layer with nothing on. I usually have an Idea of what I'm going to chop before I start but allot of the time I tend to go of on a tangent and end up changing my idea half way through.
What style of chop do you prefer to create?
I dont really have a preference
Filters, brushes and techniques: Which do you use, and not use, and why?
Mostly just use tablet pen and layer masks, I use some of the filters mostly Blur noise and sharpen. Also use adjustment layer quite allot.
When do you know that you have it just right, or is it constant changes up until, or after, you post?
I normally have about five different versions of the same chop, just changing slight details, colour shadows, highlights sharpness and noise. Then its the dilemma of what one I like best, easily solved by going for a smoke coming back have a fresh look then post.
What is the limit to what you will chop?
Pretty much no limits.
Are there any tips and/or tricks that you would like to pass along to less experienced choppers?
Dont give up, and experiment with different styles.
What is your favorite type of source image, and why?
I seem to go through stages one month its people the next objects and so on
There is often talk about how the source is used and to what extent it should be. What are your views on all sources, outside source use and animations?
There have been some great posts with no or next to no source (change of perspective)
What is your preferred resource for outside source images?
Google, sxc and depending on the cop Deviant art
In your opinion what makes a good chop?
Attention to detail
Do you have a system to get things started?
I stick the playlist on random and then get started
Have you ever completed a chop and then decided not to enter it in the contest? If so, why?
I normally post everything I chop, if I have spent the time making the chop I will post it.
After you finish your chop do you just post it or seek opinions of family and/or fellow choppers first?
Just post it.
If some one finds a fault in your work do you change it or stay with what you posted?
A bit of both, If its something I have missed I will change it. I will alway try the suggestions and see if I like the amendments 99% of the time I do.
What qualities do you look for when deciding to vote on a chop?
Different things sometimes you can see that someone has tried there hardest, though it may not be perfect, I always vote with the pics in the default view so I have not idea who is winning.
Some member prefer not to vote for filtered chops or animations. Is there any particular style/type of chop you won't vote for?
After 19'000 votes I think I have voted on every possible style of chop, but as a rule if someone has just taken the pic and applied a filter to it and nothing else I wouldn't vote.
Time is always a factor, how much time do you spend on a chop and how much time is too much?
It depends on what I'm chopping some take ages some are really quick but on average about 2.5 hours
We all love to get votes. Now are you a constant vote checker or do you just let it go and check once a day? (be honest)
I used to check about every 30 seconds, the longer I have been here the less I check. (honest) :) They have blocked the site where I work so I cant check any more until I get home
