Some days ago I thought to instruct some friends who are planning come to Brazil next year, something like: "Do not come to Brazil" , this is what I wish it could happen, a major boycott. But I know it will not, people are fanatical about football and will fill this s***.
Our country will cause embarrassment, not to mention the countless people affected since now. Indexes crime will rise, the hospitals are full.
To make matters worse, I bet we will have many foreign deaths, wanted them to have any idea what is our country and where they are getting into. It will be a shame, and I want to see how our country will "mend" everything that will happen ..........
Here where i live, Porto Alegre (far from Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro) indices of all that crimes are lower, but still a lot will happen everywhere. The crime migrates as a convenient place. I know that all nation have their issues, but the situation here is worrisome for an event of this size. The protestants are calling for more action to public resources, for more hospitals and schools.
The country is diverting resources to the construction of the Cup Stadiums, the people are paying with an expensive cost of living, with an expensive public transport, bad transportations. This country is a mess, our govern is corrupt, they don't care to the people.
Of course we have good things, wonderful places, beaches and food, but at this moment we need that world know the reality of our mess.

It looks pretty sane in São Paulo and Brasilia but Rio looks fucking mental at the mo.

The problem is that in the midst of people who call out for justice, there are a lot of unruly and vandals.... And the protests turns into a mess....

To be honest, you had to expect violence from people because of the way the police acted on the first day.

Yes.
Unsatisfied people + police agression = total chaos.
It is absurd, our police have low salary, there are also a call to the police understand this protest because the manifestation is also for better police salaries.
Did you see, in Rio de Janeiro the police is using real weapon......

I just thought of the English riots in 2011. It was teenagers taking over the streets for no good reason other than looting shops for new stuff. The police just about let them get on with it. And because we are the most filmed nation on the planet (CCTV in all public places) the police just went through all the footage and made arrests left, right and centre after the riots.
What was great was I watched that unfold on the internet and it went mental in all the major cities but Newcastle. The #newcastle tag on Twitter was full of "We love our city" and "don't riot in Newcastle". No riots in Newcastle and the city stayed intact. It was beautiful.
