Yes people are getting ticked by the slow-down and crashes at PSC. Yes we've been quite verbal about it (in an online typing and not speaking way). I gotta say I'm glad to see Emmanuel taking the beating so well. Not once has he threatened the "B" word to those of use doing the complaining. He's even kept his temper for the most part. Props to him for that I think.

Just now I tried loading the URL "photoshopcontest.com" in FF2. The page took about 3 minutes to load. So I immediately performed a trace route and a ping test to see what was up. The two tests finished before the page loaded even the logo. The results are below.




It doesn't look, to me, like the problems are routing related. I think the problems are all with the load balancing and/or back-end page generation code. Plus we all know about the database connection problems that pop up.

I propose this thread be a spot where we can all post results of our own tracert's and pings as well as thoughts on what could be wrong. This way the "help" is all in one thread so Proc doesn't have to wade through stuff to find information that could help.

So, fellow tech-heads/geeks/nerds/webmasters, let's help a brutha out. When you encounter a problem connecting or loading PSC then run whatever diagnostics you can and post the results here. It took me longer to write this than it did to run the two tests above so don't tell me you don't have the time to help (especially if you're loading up PSC to begin with).


Edit: Wanted to clarify the concept. You'd only need to post your pings and other test results when you get a glitch/crash using PSC. Also post the behavior you saw (i.e. error messages, loading times, etc.) so that the symptoms can help track the problem.

I ran traceroutes and pings about 8am ish when I had problems. Couldn't see any slows and all pings returned, so I didn't bother to post.
