Nevet, the bulletin board software JMH has used actaully has an option to allow users to pick their favorite style (colors, fonts, font sizes, etc). It works ok with a "canned" version of the software where no modifications are made.

Here at PSC, there are tons of modifications to the underlying code, including the entire chat, portfolios, contests, etc that would not change based on your selected board style. It would get real funny looking if the forums were something completely different than the rest of the site.

...and from what Ive seen, coding the rest of the site to fit different styles would be a real pain in the ass. Different styles mean different fonts, sizes, etc and making sure a site works with all those possibilities would be extremely time consuming and a nightmare to administer.

for those with the firefox sytyles plugin, I'm going make some styles too and upload them too userstyles.org

to start with a simple background color change to #ddd and removes avatars in the chat

I find that if i turn a small lamp on parallel with my left shoulder it tremendously cuts back the glare.

I really prefer a white back grounds to display posts.

I messed around with the css a little bit using dreamweaver. I'm using safari, so its not a fix for me, but here's what I came up with:

There are a few bugs, but this was just a quick test. I'm liking gray a lot better than white. Much better on the eyes.
