By the Grace of God wrote: is there anyway we can stop the foul language in the comments to the images?
In general, no.
We like our users to be respectful of others and exercise some maturity when making comments, trying to keep their comments in the "PG-13" range at best. However, some of them are challenged in this respect. Their language use is NOT an indicator of intelligence, however. Many of them use language to stress points. This is frequently overdone though. While I'd like for everyone to be more respectful of others, I realize (given the diverse group of people that we have here) that this cannot always be so. For me, it only becomes an issue when strong language use is directed at a particular user. Inflammatory language intended to denigrate someone is never acceptable, especially in an open forum.
I also apologize for the frankness of some of the other user's responses. They are quite amused by themselves.

Sorry about the idiots on this site By the Grace of God,
I'm trying to get the word filter re-introduced, no need for bad language and the filter was funny

it was not in the forum, it was a comment left on a students contest entry

I don't think anyone should be saying naughty words on an entry, and especially on an entry if it's the LB group. I knew they were students and I would not condone that on an ENTRY.
but on the forum it's a free for all and so a bit different. Would it not be better to just remove the comments from the entry and leave the forum alone.
My thinking is really just that where I live in the beautiful bible belt, well we have our crazies here that want to stamp out everything, bad language just one of the things. I get defensive when I feel someone wants to remove all privileges for the actions of a few.

RashDog, you ROCK, dawg!
[and, for the record, I do not amuse myself. I was told I'd go blind if I did that! ]

I can really relate Manic. I'm not a big fan of Someone Who Knows Better running my life (the artist in me, I suspect, is not a fan of censorship).
Part of the issue with Written Words is that the "energy" behind the communication is not available to the reader. I (as aluded to in DogRash's rather clear and straightforward review of the situation here) am one of the peeps here who do use whatever wording I feel best conveys my views/thoughts/attempts at getting a laugh. I do my best to make it rather obvious that I'm NOT directing actual SMITING ENERGY towards anyone. I generally respect and like most people.
But I can't control it if someone has personal issues or baggage around the word FUCK or SHIT or PUPPY. I do my best not to be appear mean-spirited, but again it is difficult to MAKE SURE my comments are not taken that way. Some people just DO NOT GET PARODY.
In my case, I hope my overall behavior here over the years on this site helps people figure out where I'm really coming from. But, again, I can't really control (nor do I want to spend a lot of time doing so) how people want to interpret my words through there own Mind Filters.
And RashDog, I do hope that you feel there is respect behind "DogRash" - I hope you feel the love, dude!
Dearest Splodge: Keep working on the SPAM filters. The Censor-Filter? Not so much.

I think it is OK for somebody to - when they feel offended by a comment - ask one of the moderators to remove that particular comment or the offending word.
It is possible to replace an offensive word with a few *** - somebody like splodge could do that, and then put (*** edited at the artists request) behind the comment. That will give a message. Some people have been brought up in a different environment then others, and they just don't like to use offensive language.
I know I don't like it, and I would ask for the offensive comment to be edited myself. What is wrong with that?
And, for those who don't know how to think outside the box: "No, I am not religious, I just don't like to use offensive language."
There you have it.

The line above I outlined in red. THAT is what scares me. Nothing personal, I respect Splodge and have "known" him for a few years now. But I don't want him (or some other MOD) deciding that they don't like how I'm choosing my words and then edit on my behalf.
The MODS here in general (including Splodge) have done a pretty good job putting down the FLAMERS. An experienced MOD can "feel" the nastiness behind someone's posts/comments, and they do remove stuff (usually with even a warning or two first) if needed. But I don't want someone with a personal hangup with sex-props deciding that I can't use the word DILDO in an appropriate way.

Most of us know that the words spewed out on the forum are in PLAY not in outright hating..... well I know that anyway. I've not ever been offended by the language. My daughter was kept PURE of most words in our house except for the sh*t word that popped out occ. But in going to real life high school she's learned every word in the naughty dictionary you can't avoid it, it's all out there so it's just a word anyway. When it's directed at someone in hate then it takes on a different meaning.
HOW did I get into this thread. I had no idea I loved freedom of speech so much. I will try to not be riled by this.
