Misleading would more closely mean that someone implied that their composition was created entirely a certain way even though it was not. If you're bent on Photoshop purism, I would take a close look at the last few PS release versions from Adobe, 3D features are now fully integrated into the program - and far more sophisticated than the versions I was utilizing nearly a decade ago.

By your logic, each user would have not only have to declare exactly how each image was created but also list the version of Photoshop that was utilized because, after all, with each new release of the program, there are more and more automated features that used to take hours to work through manually - Content Aware is a great example.

So by that it would be unfair for people who have Photoshop CS6 to compete against users who still use Photoshop 7.

And for that matter maybe we should have each user provide their professional credentials, in that way, a rank amateur would not have to be unfairly matched in a contest that professional graphic artist participated in.

Having said all that, the site was never designed for that purpose (I'm especially familiar with how this site came about, who created it and their intent). I'd also take a look at the HELP section, it's self explanatory regarding the conditions by which an image is to be modified, composited or created.

Also, I would highly encourage anyone who thinks that the use of a 3D program might provide a "misleading" advantage to take full advantage of that "loophole" themselves. 3D work has become far easier to use in the last few years but drawing, texturing and manipulating in an XYZ environment can become pretty complicated, pretty quick.

I just think that if you use it, you should say you used it. You have votes with comments saying, "great photoshopping," so they have clearly been misled. I don't even like when people don't show their externals. Without seeing those, I assume the least amount of work was applied to them.

Edit: Oh, and the part about credentials. Way to make an argument based on something I didn't even come close to saying. Logical fallacies are fun.

Edit 2: I suppose I should spell out exactly how it is misleading. When you post an entry at a site called PhotoshopContest.com for which you used separate 3D software, if you don't inform people of this, they will think you did the work using only Photoshop. The help section you directed me toward touches on this. In the section about externals, it says you should not use externals in such a way that people think you did more work than you actually did. Since you used something other than Photoshop to create those images, I would consider them external, and since you didn't provide any information on how the images were made, people would think you did substantially more work using Photoshop.
