Hi guys,
I'm trying to get an effect similar to the Pixar Cars film on my mates cars for a bit of fun.
I thought it would be pretty simple to be honest, but man am I struggling!
I've done this:
But I'm not all that happy with it. I can fix the eyes a bit more myself, but I can't figure out how to make a 'believable' mouth.
Anyone got any ideas?
If your interested, the original photo is here:

If you can help, thanks!

The angle on pupils seems odd, on the smiles I like the first one then the grill seems as the nose. Just my opinion! ; )

Your probably right, it does look like it could be a nose.
Although i created the mouth by selecting the front grill and warping it into a mouth shape, then added a blank layer and painted the teeth and adding a slight shadow inside, then just blanked out the inside of the mouth and blended it all in a bit.
Dont look too bad, but might have another go later.

I had a go at it, but I think photoshop has some limitations in what it can mimic, against professional 3D modeling programs, like the ones Pixar uses.

I agree with Splodge that it needs to be simplified first. This was as far as my cartooning abilities would take me. I vectorized the photo, then manipulated the color pallets.
Outside of hand drawing this DAMN thing into a cartoon with a wacom tablet, I can't see how it can be done as a 100% photo manipulation.
Could someone here who knows do a tutorial for us?
