If so, this will be of interest.
And for you kids, this is some of what you missed out on.

Saw the same thing on Boing Boing... couldn't get over the fact that they left 'Letraset' out of the list!!!!
Who'd use that old stuff these days!

That's where I found it too, Wiz. I have a loop at home I think I'll photograph and send to them.

The Haberule Type Gauge
X-Acto knives
Pantone Codes

And have (but rarely if ever use):

Loupe
French Curves
Non-Repro blue pencil
T-Square
Light Table (in work)
And want:

Wow! I just spent an hour on that page. I'm not as old as you Al, but I vividly remember;
Skum-X (and those pillows full of powdered rubber)
Drawing machines
French curves
Rapidograph pens (weren't they a bastard to clean/maintain)
Pantone markers
Felt stumps
Set squares (remember having to have a strip of cellotape under to keep the square off the paper for ink work?)
Flexi curves
Iwata airbrushes
Lettering guides etc
I still have quite a collection of this sort of stuff too. I even found one of those Argus Slide Viewers a couple of months back when I was cleaning out my Dad's stuff.
Thanks for that!

Wow, those take me back!
I've only used ~1/2 of those tools, since I was really just an amateur illustrator. My dad was a pro (first art editor of LOOK magazine) and used them all.
I don't see a curved scalpel: very useful for shaving off an india ink line from hard illustrator card stock.

Pretty fun to think about "the good old day"
I know what you guys mean, though, I still work out percentages on a reduction wheel and I have my Pantone color chip book. lol

This was my Visualizer's messy toolbox when I first started in the BBDO Advertising Bullpen back in 1961.
God I hated those damn pastels mucking up my shirts everyday!
And yes that's how we drew layouts back then, wish I kept a few to remember how bad they were!
