What is your favorite horror movie or one that scared the living daylights out of you?

I'm a big fan of the classics...Hitchcock in particular. I'm not really big on blood and gore...I prefer physchological horror.

The first half of the House on Haunted Hill remake was quite freaky, but then they went and ruined it like every modern horror by throwing computer graphics at it.... what is scary about a bunch of pixels coming at you? Laughing

The ones who know how to make you fill ya pants are the japanese.

The Ring 0,1&2
The Grudge 1&2
Audition
Two Sisters
R Point
Heirloom
The Phone 1&2
The Eye

etc etc

never seen a bad one.

Some of the Hollywood remakes are ok, but just not that scary

Ooooh, my all-time favorite of Hitchcock's is probably one that is less famous. "Vertigo". Second is "The Shining". I still can't watch that without chills going up my spine.

It has to have Zombies in it. A must.

From Classic "Night of the Living Dead" to "28 Days Later"

From "Chopper Chicks in Zombietown" to "Shaun of the Dead"

Japanese films for sure.
for real blood and gore, Itchy the killa is amongst the top.
Silent hill was nice, i liked that.
but the japanese grudge is just awesome, alot of little things make it un-beatable, bits like the old man talking to himself in his wheel chair, seems normal until they pass a window and you see a reflection of the little boy talking to the old man. Attention to small details like this are the things that make the japanese horrors stand out.

I can remember watching "Nightmare on Elm Street" as a kid. We watched it on tape over winter break during the day. Scared us so bad we still turned all the lights on even though it was daylight. Laughing

Now I see that movie and groan. Razz

even though it's a horrordy, (did I just coin a phrase? prolly not)
The Evil Dead is a classic...similarly From Dusk Till Dawn.

Hellraiser (particularly) and Hellraiser 2.
The Thing (Carpenters) kinda counts as horror.
Recently, I thought The Descent was fantastic.

Dead/Alive.

Rosemary's baby ?

Return Of The Horrid Chops Part 2
