Ok so I've been on this all day. I'm trying to put a face onto a pumpkin to make it looked carved. I found tutorials to make an outline for a real pumpkin or to make a face look like a pumpkin but nothing about a face that looks carved into a pumpkin.

Does ne one know how to achieve such an effect cause I'm all out of options!

Any advice or help would be great. Thanks in advance.

I assume it has to do with taking the pic to solid black and white. Sort of like the beatles album look:

After it looking like that, 2 colors b/w...it should be easy to overlay it..I assume.

Pfew.. When I read this, I tried to get this effect myself, but I'm out of options aswell.
I do think you need some kind of outlines for this effect. I don't mean something like Threshold, like in the previous post, because you will lose detail and not recognise a face into the pumpkin.

I give it some more tries and will post something when I find something.
I'm sure Rey would *yawn* and give a 3-step tutorial, so hopefully he (or someone else) can give us an idea, because I'm curious myself too now how to do this

I give up.
This is as far I could get to get a face carved into a pumpkin.

Saw that video. And honestly that's prob what ill go with if I can't figure ne thing else out.

I really thought this would be a lot easier to do but alas....

That's not too shabby. Now how did u get that? I can see some of the things you prob did but still can't get it to look right

Here's what I was talking about:



I took a pic of my son, desaturated and added a filter to get a 2 color b/w and changed it to screen blend. If I was better at PS I could get the colors to blend better and look more "carved"....but I wasn't sure exactly how and only had about 5 minutes to do this.....but maybe it will get you started. For it to have a "carve" look, I assume you need to make it something like this....then maybe add some lines to connect the uncarved parts to the side. I blended the right side and left the left side so you could see what both would look like.
