How can I add a few extra pounds to a person or animal using Photoshop?

Here is an example of the result I am trying to pull off:



If someone can start me out, I'll attempt to create the image and post it here for additional tips. And, NO, I do not want to learn this technique to enter a contest on Worth1000. The contest has already ended. I just thought that it was a neat contest and I would like to learn how to pull off this interesting manipulation.

Try goofing with the liquify filter.

or try distort/pinch and bloat

the slider goes right to pinch, the slider goes left to bloat.

I vote liquify filter. I'd go with the warp brush(top one) and a very low brush pressure setting, between 2 and 6. Also, turning on mesh in view options will tell you how much you're stretching pixels.

I'd use pen tool for the fattened shape, clone/heal brush for the texture, and burn and dodge for the curves of the muscle and fat. Liquify's going to give you a blurred look.
