Hello fellow PSCers. This is a mini tutorial on how to achieve the grainy "old film" feeling to one of your images.

Sorry to Theshaman for taking so long to post this...(procrastination, I know. )
I hope you find this helpful

1. Get yourself the image you want to apply the "old film" feeling... ( I got one of my entries as an example)

2. Next find a picture of something rough, like concrete and make sure it's bigger than your canvas. Name this layer "texture 1"

3. Now you combine the images by changing the layer style of the "texture 1" layer to overlay.

4. Make a copy of "texture 1", name the copy "texture 2" and move it around, slightly. Now hide the original "texture 1" layer.

5. Repeat the previous step, making a copy of "texture 2",moving the copy "texture 3" around and hiding "texture 2"

6. After doing that get a large soft brush and paint black around the borders of the image. Name this layer "black 1"

7.Make a copy and change the opacity of it or do some slight variations of it. Name this layer "black 2"

Now, to get this result, you need about 8-10 frames. Make sure all of the frames have slight differences. Like for an example hiding "texture 1" layer and showing "texture 2 or 3" and showing "black 1" layer. And for the next frame showing "texture 1" and "black 2", and so on... Just don't make it too repetitive. A variation of final result:

All right, Rocky. I finally got the chance to play with this a bit. I used a scratched sheet of steel from Google images and one of my contest entries to produce this:

This took me 10 or 15 minutes to create. It's not very good, but I can see that your technique will be quite useful. I'll spend more time with it when an appropriate contest source comes up.
