you can make a gif, but I believe they'd potentially want to use the image which would not be possible if it were a gif.

Here is the answer (badcop's question) from Chad: "Yes it does. I don't believe the band will actually be using the images for anything, but it does give up their rights."

Think of it as a way to expand your portfolio. If you've done work for a few brands/products or anything that gets publicity, you're almost guaranteed to get more work later on.
