well guys if you want my opinion and don't take me wrong,I think it's because the idea is to somehow be true to the source,(if you know what I mean) in these types of comps there should be some semblance to the source image in the final image

here you used the source basically as textures to create your own image of the clown,which in a way could actually even have been created from scratch ie. using noise filter instead of source lights
