i have been trying my hand at this lately, using the free anim8or program, has anyone else used this? and if so do you know of any tutorials for beginners? i have found a few but not many. im interested in learning this but the programs ive seen are fairly complicated to learn (anim8or being the easiest i found).

i used maya at university. 3d programs look complicated but if you stick with it you can learn quickly. like photoshop their are loads of tutorials on the internet. i found maya to be the easiest to learn and their own online help is superb (from the Alias site).

Check out a 3D project i did this time last year: http://www.designeratwork.co.uk/multimedia_cant.htm# . The lottery actually gave me and a mate money to do it. That's right i actually got something from the lottery! Laughing the finished product is in every school in Kent, UK.

I use the Bryce program for 3D stuff. For my entry in the Microwave Madness contest a few days ago, I made the dome with all the trees in Bryce...the render time for a group of trees is HUGE. I think learning any of the 3D programs is a big learning curve...but if you have the time and patience it's alot of fun.

I "use" blender for my 3d stuff. I put it in quotes because I'm not any good at it yet. However, it is a free app and is quite powerful.

Try using a program called Rhino. the trial version is free but you can only save 25 times. Just type Rhino 3d in google. and click on the one that says Rhinoceros-Nurbs modeling for windows. i use it every day at school
