tru, the ref was really bad, the penalty was really questionable, but in the end the team that did more won, Italy had at least 5 clear chances to score, what did australia do? Honor to the roos for getting so far, have a nice flight...

We faught, dominated and did well and we were ready to bring it to extra time. then it would have been penalty shootout, and we would have surely won then...

I must admit, I felt for the aussies, no one deserves to go out like that. In my opinion though Lucas Neill should not have gone to ground. He made it easy for a quick hook of the foot around the midrift from the italian.
Totti was cool under presure, and the ref was yet again a absolute fool, why in the hell was Mazzeratti sent off, that made no sense at all.
On a different note, who watched the Switz and Ukraine match. Sweet jesus, I can't recall a more boring game of football. Both teams should have been thrown out of the competition. I know England have not exactly thrilled, but mother of god yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwn

i agree marco, the defender was a fool, as was the ref, Materazzi hit his team mate and was sent off, lol. Anyway, keeping the ball in 11 against 10 and doing nothing with it its not dominating in my book, but you're free to dream LD

Non no no no Arcaico.
Italy is already in quaterfinals. If France is also there we have two countries that have been playing worse than Finland. And our FIFA rankin about 200. We really suck

Woo Hoo who would have thought it, Spain got it all wrong again. et again after a dominating qualifying display, and almighty results in the group when the tournament gets going. Spain somehow find a way to blow and suck in the knock out stages.
But bravo France, and ZZ especially, he deserves to go out on a high, and he played like his old self yesterday. Great to see.
Brazil are looking strong, but there are cracks in the defence. But the philosephy has always been to just score more than the opponent
Which works most of the time.
Looking forward to the Quarter finals, lets all hope the refs don't try and grab glory and ruin all the games with a bucket load of yellows and reds.
STOP MESSING WITH THE RULES FIFA AND LET THE BEAUTIFUL GAME FLOW

Good one marco - an old trick to check if people are looking.
Well the tournament has reached the cutting edge now. No Dutchies, the Spaniards have shot themselves in the foot again and the French are just starting to look like a team once more. Ronaldo has made a mockery of his critics by becoming the highest and fattest ever goal scorer in the Finals.
Having endured the nightmare of watching Tim Henman get humiliated at Wimbledon today followed by Sri Lanka thrashing our cricket team it will be good to get back to the tournament on Friday when we could see the end of the South American interest.
Great games in prospect, and as marco says, lets hope the referees let the games flow.
COME ON ENGLAND
