I swear, as much as I really love alot of music that the U.S. has produced over the years ( Tom Waits, Pixies, Miles Davis,Coltrane,The Replacements,Television,The Stooges and on and on..) Talk about great music coming through with the British Invasion, Robert Palmer was on the top of that list as far as I'm concerned, the one song of his that is so hard to find, and I think one of the greatest songs ever written, is "Woke Up Laughing" I doubt anyone has heard it, but once you do, you won't get it out of your head, it's just that good, when I heard of his death on Sept 26, 2003, it was as though someone had kicked me in the chest, I felt as though I had lost a close personal friend, his work covered a lot of bases, and although you may not like some of his work, there is something he has done that you'll really like, so check out his work, and see if you can find "Woke Up Laughing" and let me know.

Ya , that is a great song. It is on the "Clues" album. I have a good quality(320bit) MP3 of it and could pipe it through to you, if you like. Equally good are Johnny and Mary and Lookin For Clues....ah hell the whole album's great and to add a real plus to it, Gary Numan was involved in it.

I never got into the Ramones...ever, for some reason I could never connect with any of those guys, some would say they were responsible for punk, but I disagree, in my opinion they gave punk a bad name

Anyway, back to the Cure, I wasn't real crazy about their early stuff, and that's when I started listening to them by the way,that was back in the late 70's, but in the late 80's I really started to like them a helluva lot more, and they kept getting better, back when that purple haze song came out, I heard it and couldn't find it anywhere, then one nite I was in this old record store and I mentioned it to one of the record guru's, and he said it was on that stone free CD, of course they didn't have it, so I hunted it down online, to me they did Jimi right, I know he's smilin that is one of their best works, and I like almost everything they've done a lot, as for the stooges, Curly was my all time fave.

Robert Smith of the Cure actually started out playing guitar with Siouxsie & the Banshees, 30 + years ago, I saw them live at Lollapalooza's first show and I have to say, they are a band to see live, but I don't think they're together anymore, I remember hearing that they were going to be at the show, and that was the real reason I wanted to go, I wasn't disappointed either, however all the bands that played that first show kicked some serious ass, Siouxsie Sioux was hot
