Ya Ive heard of 'm. Arent they a Cali band? I heard a recent song called "The Step" . The begining sounded kinda like "Run Like Hell" : Quite tastey!
Here's one to check out,( although you've probably allready heard of 'm) "Tapes n Tapes".
I really like the fact that these guys( from my home town Mpls! ) refuse to be pigeon-holed as they "change it up" alot!

Tapes n Tapes are a Minneapolis (my home) band. Just another in quite a few (incl. The Replacements of course) great talents to come out of "the Minneapple". http://www.tapesntapes.com They are a huge success story so early on. They got noticed by posting MP3s on various blogs and from there well..... Ahh once again, the power of "the net" is proven. I'd be (sad to say)nearly crippled without it.

Yes, I had already found this Tapes'nTapes site, but I couldn't get any sounds, I downloaded something, but then it wouldn't come up and their not listed in the usual places I look, I'll get around to them somehow.

She's got a great voice and does a real nice version of Sam & Daves "Hold On, I'm Comin" and of course you cant not bring up the amazing movie(ya I know it's not "music talk") "Crash", when mentioning her.

Women in music...
I already talked about Nina Hagen, Björk, Goldfrapp...
I also like Cassandra Wilson, & I love PJ Harvey + Neko Case. They are great!
Hey, in October, Dweezil Zappa with Terry Bozzio, Steve Vai, Napoleon Murphy Brock
with other musicians are coming in town for a show, playing Zappa's music (I'm talking about Frank)!!!!!!!

Hey! I listened some Django Reinhardt... it's absolutely great! I'll buy some!
I want to talk about another Django... Django Bates.
First I saw him live with the Bill Bruford's "Earthworks" close to 20 years ago.
Ten years ago, just after a good show from The Brecker Brothers & Steps Ahead
at the Montreal Jazz Fest, I had the luck to see Django & his band performing
outdoors for free. It was amazing... crazy!
He's just a fabulous composer, I think one of the 3 best I heard.
He's an excellent pianist, playing very complex stuff in an so original & cool way.
Sure he had some influences from F.Zappa...
Here's the CD cover of I think his best music:
