Actually these stats are already collected and, kinda, displayed already so this isn't something radical and isn't (in my view anyway) an ego stroker or vote-swapping-producing-mechanism-thing.
My idea is to show the "voting qualities" stats for each entry on the entry's display page. That's clear as mud so lemme see if I can 'splain better.
When we vote we can use the radio buttons to choose "This entry's best quality". Those stats are then used for filtering into the
Galleries. Using these options a picture can, and usually does, appear in more than one gallery.
SO, back to my idear, how about showing how many of the chops total votes went into each category right on the entry's display page?
Say a chop got 20 votes and they cover the categories in the following break-down: 10 for Execution, 5 for Authenticity, 3 for Idea, 1 for Theme and 1 for Other. My idea is to simply show these stats in a list below the number of votes. Like so (or similar):
20 Total Votes 13 Comments
Voting Breakdown:
5 - Authenticity
10 - Execution
0 - Humor
3 - Idea
1 - Theme
1 - Other
That's it. Nothing to show who voted which way (although you may be able to discern this by the number of votes and breakdown in some instances).
Reasoning? Well I think it's good to know how people are viewing your work. If I do a chop that I think is funny but most votes are going to "Theme" or "Idea" then I can see that my intention of humor isn't being seen as such. Then I can try to refine the humor in an edit or in the next chop. Similarly if I'm going for Authenticity and "Idea" gets the most votes then maybe I need to re-evaluate what I need to do to make the chop more authentic.
I also think that this
may stimulate people to use the options and not just let it default to "Other" since there's some indication of how everyone else viewed the chop.
Responses and refinements to this idea are welcomed and requested.
