I think "Favorites" would be a good "gallery" option. A user can show up, visit the galleries and choose "Member Favorites" and it will list in order by count of how many members have chosen the images as a favorite.

...Kinda like in the video rental place where they always have a rack for employee favorites.

I never got my profile for some reason..anyway..
I just appreciate it as it is.
I like when I check others collections of favs that I see
some people chose based on artistic merit, skill,
and originality.
That tells me about the person collecting favs.
I can't see what who has been chosen most can possibly have to do with that.

One thing you're missing (IMO) is that favorites arent (for the most part) about who but more WHAT. Sure there will be a few friends that pick some from each other but I'm thinking more are based on the image and not the creator.

I've looked at a few and have seen some favorite images in different user's list that I didnt remember. Some were darn good. Seems like a good way to include more users and their creations other than just by how it was voted.

I've thought about this more. Since we can already browse other's favorites it's not really hard to see if someone's added you into their favorites or not. So notification would still be neat but I don't know if it would promote the reciprocal voting to a great extent.

I gotta admit I was pleased to see a couple of my chops having been added as favs for other people. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Will it make me rush out and vote for those people? I doubt it.

On a related vein I spent a good part of the weekend looking at the portfolios and favorites of others. Got reminded of some great contests and found some gem chops that I'd missed in the past. If you're looking to kill a couple hours it's a great way to do just that!

Ha, I was thinking of something similar today.....! Something like a database or droplist to show who has a pic of yours as their fave.
