I just got my hands on photoshop 7. I know to most of you its probably an old outdated tool but I have been using an antiquated microsoft product
"digital Image Pro 7" its a dinasaur but I got fairly good with it up to now.
I feel like I have been decieving everyone given this sites name.....please forgive me. I know it'll take me a while to familliarise myself with it due to its intensive capabilities. That in mind I probably wont post much in the near future but ....critiques are welcome if I do. Any good books to recomend??
I am truly living up to the name again...I feel a bit lost now though, all my know-how is being abandoned for this new software that I dont know anything about..a bit frustrating!! But I will try to learn it quickly.
anyway,
I can use some advise here My co-worker has lost her father some time ago and she never had a pic of him, well her grandmother recently passed and had this pic and its the only one she has of him. I would love to get those pesky red dots out of the way...but I would like some advice other than painstakingly eliminating each one individually
what is your suggestion on how to go about it???

advise on that red haze on the top is also appreciated.
p.s. please respect that this pic is very sentimental to her and she occasionally checks this site out
thanks for the advice....
Mike

Don't feel so bad nubie. I still use PS 7...not that I can't upgrade, but I just like what I like. Comfortable...like an old shoe...but, I digress.

The red dots...well...I can't think of a horribly easy way to fix 'em...you can play with hue/saturation/contrast to improve the overall look of it...then, maybe add a layer to get rid of the huge clump at the bottom right...

Did'ya want some of us here to have a crack at the photo?

Edit: OK...this is really quick...but here's a small improvement

The dots a only in the red channel. They are in the other channels a little, but not much. The green channel makes a nice BW image. here is the green channel.

thanks DP it looks alot sharper.
I know what ya mean bout the old shoe....I just threw mine out.....I have never worked with levels, layers or masks etc I am getting a bit frustrated cause I am clicking on things and I cant get some things to work..i need a book to study that starts with basics...ie the lingo...most of the tools I have never heard of let alone used its going to be a learning curve. but the quality of my work should imoprove beyond what it once was with D.I.P.!!!!

Retouching the dots out of the red channel is slow. I used the Healing tool in the red channel. Shocked ( I don't think you have the healing tool. Use your cloner carefully. On the left is after I did a little retouching in the red channel.
