Today i hate clowns with a intense passion because of the movie "It" I have rewatched it recently and it's not too scary, but imagine being 4 years old and not realizing this is all fake....

I'm a big fan of the classics...Hitchcock in particular. I'm not really big on blood and gore...I prefer physchological horror.

The Haunting (the original from 1963 ) is an example of really good psycological horror. Probably a bit scarier in it's day, but good nontheless.
other faves:
The Thing (Carpenter's)
Alien
....and if ya want someting really creepy/grotesque watch Tetsuo. I agree with marco, that the Japanese horror filmmakers have definitely got the ability to creep ya out.

used to like getting frightened when i was a kid by 'standard' horror movies but recently the only thing that i enjoyed in a being-rather-scared-and-rather-more-disturbed way was the ring. i thought it was awesome

I only like very cheap horror movies.
The cheaper they are, the better they are!
Something like "The Giant Spider Invasion". It was a story of a VW Bug (the bigger spider) with big long hairy legs that really never reached the ground... Laughing

Here's the great trailer...
