hmm i have jsut been reading up and i would strongly advise against useing images posted on psc
as psc holds the copyrights to them
you will have to ask procyon to extend the rights for you to enter your work to this competition...
and thats assuming that the competition rules dont state the following...
*work submitted must be made for this competition.*
*work submitted must be made from scratch*
*work submitted must not use external sources*
(wouldn't want you to lose out because of a technicality...
just looking out for ya)

Thanks for looking out, but where does it state on this site that they own the copyright to my or everyone else works (and/or members submitted photos). The site gives us permission to alter the state of an image that is submitted by its members, so wouldn't that make these our images and if that is the case and this site does hold the copyright to my images then I am not chopping anymore.

Bottom of the page.
the tos that protect your work from being extorted by others from the site may prevent you from using it...

This is the only thing I found about the image submission, now I am confused becuase it says "mutilated or altered entries will not be accepted", not sure how to take that?
Entry Materials
All work submitted must be the original work of the entrant. Illegible, incomplete, forged, plagiarized, mutilated or altered entries will not be accepted.

already mentioned that... in one of my previous posted.. i got the shut it marx treatment and as a consequence edited it...
there is a reason why this exoists "Free of copyright violations"
becuase you cant use copyright materials... simply becuase displaying them...
although i cant be sure about the rights to the image being taken i am pretty sure the text and images displayed covers any images archived.

Maybe that only applies to outsiders, not sure. All I know is that I am not sitting chopping my ass off to give this site the rights to it, then that means I can't display it or call it my work.

Oh I see. That is okay because I am not going to be chopping anymore if I don't have rights to my own work.

well you still can call it your own work...
i am not too sure about origionators rights as there is no mention of it...
i cant find any reference to it in the tos...
as the copyright suggests tho.. your images may be bound by the copy right as they were submitted to a competition...
ill try to find that post i made was a while back though

If the site owns the copyright it is no longer my image it is owned by the site (which I can't believe I didn't pay attention to in the first place). Then everytime I want to display, sell (I wish, haha) or alter it again I can't because I don't own the rights to it and I will have to ask permission to do so, ugh.

Cheryl, you didn't mention how much time you have to prepare. Has PSC sucked away all your creativity and time that you can't create something new outside the constraints of these contests? You're in PSC mode. It's time to break out and create something new using everything you've learned.
Theme is important. Have a story to tell. Don't pile on too many objects trying to relate them, keep it simple. Remember lighting, composition, and pick a color palette. Saturated or soft. Thin lines, thick lines. Dark, light. Big, small. Up, down. Keep the eye moving throughout your comp.
