It's really magic how your eyes make it reverse direction and then back again.

Really cool if any of you can incorporate it into an entry and make it work on the contest page.

BTW: I'm clueless when it comes to anything in GIF editing! Sad

I figured out how to make it flip very easy, at least for me. She is actually rotating counter-clockwise, you can tell by the way her foot's shadow moves, looking at her body makes it seem like she is going clockwise at first. As soon as you look at her foot's shadow for a split-second, it will "switch" and look like it's going CCW, because it is going CCW...
But, move your eyes from her foot's shadow to her foot, and it will cause you to think she is rotating CW again.

I hope my description is good enough to help those of you who can't do it. It's pretty easy for me, I can cause her to "change" direction instantly just by looking at her foot or her foot's shadow. I'm sure this will cause most of you to be able to do this, too. Smile

Also, Wiz, that was produced using a 3d software program and then was converted from a video format to .gif. Smile

Interesting effect. I find I am able to switch rotation by looking at the shadow, as well. The brain seizes upon a reference and interprets; change the reference, and it reinterprets. I doubt if this would work with anything but a silhouette or a stick figure.

This would work with anyting... But it takes some serious work. It's pretty simple tho. Pause the gif at any of the frames and you'll notice that each one of them is a optical illusion. You can't tell if her leg or her arm is in front or in the back. That's why it is that hard to do such a thing. We have over 15 optical in one here.

And mason, you cracked me up when you said "she IS moving CCW" haha. She isn't. Your brain think she is. For you she is, for your neighbor she isn't, and for leif she's fuckable...

Stare at the mid section of her body for about a minute, it works! Smile

er, according to the movement of the shadow, yes, she is rotating counter clockwise.

If you watch her movement when your brain thinks she is going clockwise, but keep an eye on her foot's shadow right under her, you can see that when you think the model's foot is rotating to the front and coming around to the left, the foot's shadow is going to the back. I can't really explain that very well, but it is going CCW. her foot's shadow wouldn't match up otherwise.

Mason's tip helped me make her switch. (thanks, maS!)

I was going to give up until I switched focus from her foot shadow to her actual foot (actual as in Virtually Actual) Wink
