I am editing a jpeg file. I have noticed that when I try to save the file it does not offer the jpeg format. Neither "save" nor "save as" offers a jpeg format.

there should be a pull down list of JPEG or jpg as a list among about a bunch of other options like tiff, gif, eps, psd etc etc

do you see that at all ??? and if you are saving for web you get png, gif and jpg as options I think only but if you save as in file tab you should have all of these options with the others I mentioned.

use the "save for web..." option.

This brings up a nice interface that previews the compressed image.
