I am a long time user of photoshop and a noob to the forum.
I live in the sticks. I can make pixel for pixel paintings of a reference photo with illustrator, the photoshop airbrush tool and masks.
What jobs are available for a geographically challenged photoshop junkie like me who has this odd skill?

Sell yourself online?
Use craigslist to post computer/image services.... Post resume online at Monster.com or the like.
Those are my only ideas, really... I haven't worked since I had my daughter nearly four years ago, and now that I am preggers for my fourth kid, it looks like I am not hitting the job market anytime soon. Gives me time to finish my degree (online of course) and hopefully someday I'll be a productive member of society again instead of just a maid and cook to screaming kids all day.

Both great suggestions! I need to try "image services" on Craigslist. Thank you for the ideas. Moms are totally the most productive members of society and degree's are overrated. I have one in design and it has landed me exactly 1 job. Thanks for the reply.

Check the part of vector illustrations, check what sells and try to figure out why, create your own stile, create your own little stock and become contributor*. Build up your own website, become rich and famous
Istock won’t make U ridge but it’ll show you a way that sells... Can’t tell U it’s the right way but at least it is a way.
*Take care that in the moment you activate your istock acc as contributor to have some good stock for upload, so they don't reject you. There are much more like istock but in my opinion they have the best vector stuff. Choose wisely if you become exclusive or not.
Cheers BL

Sry, missed the main point:
1st Step: Learn to use Illustrator

Thanx for the reply BL. That is an excellent way to see what sells. Why vectors only though? That is pixel discrimination dammit. I have yet to see any vector photographs.
The most downloaded piece of art is a very simple map of the US.
Kind of ironic. It also seems all of the highest rated ones are the least downloaded. Kind of like Hollywood films.

Didn't read the whole thread so sorry if this got brought up already.
Jerry717 does this kind of work for Ford. He does photorealistic recreations of vehicles for their advertising. He's seriously talented at this kind of work and he'd be a great resource for you to talk with.

Shoot. I know ONE of you lot was kind enough to send some hi-res shots of your work for my son to look at a while back. Crap now I can't remember. Thought for sure it was Jerry. I promised to delete the pics and I did so now I can't go back to see.
I'm almost positive it's Jerry though. The stuff he sent me was crazy good work on a truck. He said that the PSDs are the HUMONGOUS side of the file size scale.

I would think a web site with your resume and examples of your work would make you appear pro. With past images and work you've done would be a positive point for reference to anyone you might get work from.
Just my naive suggestion!

I'll respond to Mook's PM later. I'm writing this from my iPhone...
