now that's sweet work voks, and the defined dark lines make it great to see where the reflections merge. Ok Im going to have another go at this tonight and see if I can improve on my first attempt. Would love to see 2rey or marco or claf have a go at this just to see what they come up with.

Keep trying to improve on what you know cause its good to learn new things, and if you want to see the other tips and tricks threads here they are.

Simple - this is not Photoshop, it's 3DS Max

Okay... now I want 3D Max. Laughing

Seriously, though... Photoshop ought to be able to recreate this effect... I still don't know how, though. Confused

I understand that you were talking about photoshop. I made it to be used as a reference, not to show-off. It would probably be better if I make the walls with a regular square grid pattern

It doesn't HAVE to be 3DMax. Blender (freeware) would work nicely too.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
Thanks Vok, I've just started to explore CS3E's 3D modeling capabilities. I don't yet own a 3D program, and thought 3DMax was was where I was going to have to go. However, I think I'll look at Blender first, at least as a learning or introductory program to 3D modeling. I've already seen a few gallery shots of what Blender can do, and I'm very impressed.

But you should try some "real" 3d program... PS CS3 extended cant actually render objects, its just shading them so you cant get even close to voks results
That basicly means it cant handle reflections, refractions and i-dont-know-what-else so it looks rather fake Wink
