ok, this has nothing to do with photoshop but i know alot of you guys are designers so i thought to ask for your opinion
i have an assignment for school to design a logo for the Israeli association of illustrators and i'm really lost.... i have some sketches and i'm noe sure i'm going the right way....
what i was thinking is to go with amorphic shapes, curvy lines and bright cheerful colors and tried to avoid the cliches.....
and i didn't really work on the text yet so its just representing the location ...
i would really appreciate the help

do the shapes have any significance and what does the text say? I like the look of them so far but need more information I do think the baby blue kind of bugs my eye but could be just because I'm not into baby blue because it doesn't make the logo pop enough.

the shapes don't have any significance, and the text says isreali associations of illustrators in hebrew...
the color maybe look different on my screen it's supposed to be more turquoise but im not fixed on the colors...
on the more information part what im trying to go for is a more updated feel to the logo, not the classic illustration look but more what goes on today which is more clean, vectors, computerized
not sure if the logos i did say that really but thats the idea

got ya...well the second one grabs my eye. I like the angle you did on the artwork. I threw some different colors on them trying to give it more pop.

I agree..........didn't quite like the baby blue either
these colors "pop" a bit more
the bottom logo looks alot like the new Adobe photoshop logo
I think you're on track with the top two

ok so i'll change it to stronger colors, and i had another idea to maybe make the orange one from scanned water colors or something so it also combines natural media with the computer vectors....

I like the curves. Since you're creating something for an illustrators' group, you might incorporate a pen nib, pencil point, charocoal, paint brush on the ends of your shapes.
This may be what you meant of trying to avoid (cliche), but it will get the visual idea across quickly.

"Merging blob" logos started appearing as a trend about 5 years ago and have since become a huge cliche (I'm referring to your first 2 logos).
I would definitely drop that idea altogether.
Apart from being overused, they're meaningless and arbitrary in your context.
Make your logo meaningful. Give it a connection to the company.
Show your teacher that you put some thought into this.

I was going on the premise that Nevet had put thought into her work and felt pleased with her results. Badcop may be giving his opinion based on local/US trends.

She said she was "really lost" and unsure if she was going in the right direction.
I agree with you about making a visual connection to the illustrators association.

I like it as it is, you did a good job on it. Just keep it simple and stylish, and please do not use the gradient!!! Maybe you could rotate the elements above the second logo a bit more to the left, to receive more symetry...
