Let me start off by saying "Hello Splodge!" Wink Razz

Here's the deal. I do very simple Flash movie banner-type SWF files. I've just started using the CS3 version (MAC os 10.5). Here is my problem:

I bring in a bitmap, create a GRAPHIC symbol out of it and then move/fade it around in the time line.

Now, I want to put in a different image. So I bring in the new image and convert to GRAPHIC symbol. Call this image B.

I go back to my timeline with my original image (call it A) and I click on a Keyframe and then in the stage area I click on the highlighted Image A. I choose SWAP from the properties box and then I choose symbol Image B.

And the frickin thing doesn't CHANGE. I've tried the same thing on my laptop and got the same result. I can not swap the image. I've tried converting the images to BUTTONS and MOVIE CLIPS with the same result.

HELP!! (and thanks in advance!

(P.S. I just realized I haven't tested this issue on my fiance's PC - I'll do that now and get back to yooz all.) Bow

As I said earlier, "HI SPLODGE!" Wink

Sorry- that was confusing. I mean that I tried it with them ALL as MOVIE symbols - just to see if I could swap them in that mode.

I'm just trying to swap GRAPHIC IMAGE Symbol to different GRAPHIC IMAGE Symbol.

I took the file over to the PC and it is the same thing.

I'm thinking I did something wacky when I brought the images in... I put them all in a single PSD file as layers (I figured I could bring in a dozen image in one shot?)... maybe that has futzed some thing up?

I'm going to try doing a simple movie bringing in each image to the stage and then converting to symbol and then see what happens.

(BTW- I've googled the shit out of this and no one else seems to have this issue - so I think it may be a ReinCreatedChallenge. Razz I am still appreciative of any other thoughts you guys (meaning SPLODGE Wink) might have.)

I'm gonna research this better (I'm a bit rusty with basic FLASH, obviously, and my last version I worked on was PC FlashMX...) but if anyone ("anyone" in French means "SPLODGE") has a simple concise way to get bitmaps into library LEMME KNOW.

(currently I would normally just import the image onto the stage, do the old F8 "convert to symbol", choose GRAPHIC, delete original image and then bring the SYMBOL onto the timeline from the library).

Did I mention that I play a MEAN accordion? Razz

if there's any transparency save each layer .png, flash will optimise them, if not save as .jpg. In flash > file > import > import to library, then drag the pic onto the stage, new layer for each pic,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
hold on a minute, you dont think the swop btn will change the picture in the .swf file do you?????????????
swop btn will only swop images on the stage for images from the library Smile

Howdy again....

I think I'm sorting this out....

I didn't realize that to swap an image I have to click on the FIRST keyframe in the layer/timeline. I used to (or so I remember) click on ANY keyframe in the layer and do a swap with fine results. Not so much anymore it seems.

Thanks for your attention on this, Mr. Splodge! Hope you find yer EGGS this weekend! Wink

Yes - but to click on it "on the stage" you have to be on its KEYFRAME in the timeline... What I've found out is that if I'm on any keyframe OTHER than the 1st Keyframe in that sequence, the swap will NOT work. When you pick the first KEYFRAME it updates ALL following KEYFRAMES along with the Alpha, Omegas, and rotational carp.
