I made an entry for the prickly fruit even before the comp opened but I don't feel like posting it. Seems like it lacks of something which I don't know.

Hey abraham.I made a floating fly (even a more blurred bg.than yours-full throttle gaussian) for this comp and faired rather well 4th place. http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/145880/votes.html So I don't think it's the floatingness.What I see a bit off is the left eye.If you would have left it as a profile (like the egyptian figures) it would have been an ace chop.I love the whispy flamy fins.Just my two cents worth.

rather quick, and I think I desaturated it a bit too much... but you get the idea. the noise gives it more of a pond water feel. I may have over done that as well just to over exaggerate the point. I like annas light fall idea as well... give me a few minutes and I'll add that....

I think what you did was great. It would have easily gotten votes and prob landed you top 3 w/o any kind of alteration.

Very nice Sean. Your color is perfect, really blends everything, the fish and the BG. Maybe mine is too vivid.
