I'm going out to DC Thursday for a photo excursion.
I'm trying to travel as light as possible, so I don't want to take my laptop to dump my memory cards on.
Anybody know of any tricks to work around this? Or should I just be REALLY selective as to what I shoot?
I was thinking of maybe finding an internet cafe and uploading them somewhere until I get back home...but I'm not sure if that would work.
Or should I just buy more memory cards? ![Laughing](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif)

I would buy additional memory cards, they are pretty cheap now. Decrease the resolution of the images, obviously, so you can fit more on. I'm not an expert though, and tend to buy my solutions when possible. ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif)

I have a Sony hard drive camcorder that takes still images. Holds 10,000 pics at a time. I have NEVER come close to filling it up! ![Laughing](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif)

I have 5 4gig cards and have no trouble with saving images at the highest res. Why 5, 4 gig cause dicksmiths had a sale for xpcards 4 gig for $4 dollars and they only had 4 left when I got there, with the one I got with the camera I now got 5 or em.

DP - all these solutions are good. If you want to be ABSOLUTELY sure you won't loose anything you wanna get a copy of your shots onto a separate "outside" drive pronto. Laptop or portable storage drive. (the pro route)
Keep in mind that putting a LOT of eggs in one basket is not always a good idea. If you drop the basket you loose all the eggs. BUT, if you spread out the eggs in a few baskets there is a chance you'll misplace one of the baskets. So it is a tough call on one BIG memory card or a few smaller cards.
I don't recommend setting your resolution down just to fit more images in - you paid for those megaPixels, might as well use 'em.
And I would always take a few moments every now and then to cull out the real TURDS on the card as you go through your day... usually going back over them you'll find some you'll wonder WTF? and you can trash them and open up more room.
And for F*CK'S SAKE, man... do NOT (repeat) DO NOT buy FILM! Bad bad idea. Really. Avoid this scenerio at ALL costs. Trust me - film is untested and unproven. RUN AWAY!
Man - I'm glad I'M not a photographer... it would be TOO frickin STRESSFUL.

But...BUT...
I LIKE film.
It's....so... film-like.
I've decided to take the laptop anyway. I need the extra exercise.
NOW...if I can just stay clear of the...um... less than savory...areas I'll be OK!
