Luxwiz wrote: The checkerboard image is supposed to be "representative" of a transparent layer in PS.So although you can see the checkerboard as the source image it actually represents something invisible .This given ambiguity allows for greater freedom of expression as to how the source is to be assimilated into your final image. You can either interpret the checkerboard as substantial (because you can see it) and include it or parts of it in your final image,or you can interpret it as representative, thus being transparent and invisible for all intents and purposes and exempt from being visually manifest in your final image. In plain english this means you can do whatever the hell you want in this comp .As for the votes,we are now 9 hours into the comp.there are 42 entries and 288 votes. This means that the average entry should have roughly 7 votes (6.857 votes/entry).So if you have more than 7 votes you can consider that you are doing better than the mean .I hope this helps in clarifying the matter .
What he said. Lol

If it's any consolation, I'm not getting any votes either and I used nothing but the checkerboard! So all the votes must be going to an undisclosed location (soon to be out of a job)!

HEY! ...i voted for the moire.
The last white comp produced a variety of works. Those who chose to do a "white" theme did the best.

anyway, this shouldn't be discussed until after the comp. I was confused with this source as well.

Nexdt time someone wants to try this...and personally I like when
this happens...put in really big text on the non existent source something to teh effect of
"HEY IDIOT- IT'S A FREE FOR ALL...JUst make Whateva Ya want and Post it--
This means You do NOT have to use ANY of this image as source...if you
like you may even just post a photograph of your GRANDMA eating POUTINE with her fingers"
PS_ I HAD NO &*&^&ING IDEA THIS WAS HAPPENING
AND WOULD HAVE POSTED BUT NOOOO NOBODY SAID A F*%^%^

The way I look at it, is the source was the empty photoshop canvas checkerboard, and that it should be used in the entry to some degree as thats the name of the PSC game.
So some really nice work in the comp that is free and original, but if it is not using the checkerboard, I personally am not considering it as being within the comp rules. But thats just me

Then that would make you wrong TWICE. Once for using a BLANK canvas in the chop and Once for not voting for the ones who understood what BLANK canvas meant.
