What I think might motivate all these guys to return, would be to offer them a regular monthly competition. One where only they, and some of the remaining big guns that are still here, (anfa, others) compete against each other, and no one else. A sort of elite old school type comp.

I'm not sure that would be a good idea. there is already a lot of resentment here about the real or perceived "elitist" attitude some people here have. No need to make that worse.
I think what we need is a way to draw the two sides together, not to drive another wedge between them.

You're probably right. But I'm also a realist. When I manage people, I think in schools. Groups or cliques that are naturally attracted to be with one another. To force the social dynamic to be other than what it is, ... is an upwards battle.
