Nice work, Mr. Gort!

Good luck finding new (and a few) outlets for them.

Thanks for the suggestions, Wiz. And yes, my camera skills are lacking. However, I have had some "pro" shots taken in the past with mixed results. I once did a Buyer's Market show in Philadelphia where I had huge light boxes with backlit photos. Now those were cool!

About the bottom lit table...it doesn't work for these...looks all washed out. They are best when directly under a bright light. The galleries would have them in a display cabinet under halogen bulbs and they lit up like you can't believe. When I would do a "meet the artist" thing, people would spot them from across the gallery.

So many details in such a small thing - simply beautiful!

Maybe try also to do some nice close-ups to show how detailed your work is.

oh wow, that is really something! your carvings are mind blowing.

I thought about this lighting for a second, and i came up with a possibility on the bottom lit table idea....

make one out of a white diffuser type of material, but wire you in a few led's that can provide some varied levels of color to the various surfaces when shining into the carvings. you can use pots and make the colors variable, easily run them off of a battery.
not only would the table top light the piece from below, but the added hues from the leds might be easier to catch with a camera. you could even put a small diffuser over the leds so they would not concentrate so much and fan out giving you totally different color possibilities as well.

that could help with the washout and add some dimension to the carving in display, as well as give the camera something to define from a 2d point of view.
