I think your right cafy...people like the casualness of just taking photos.
Its simply, easy and fun. I think everyone here really enjoys sharing there photos.
Like i said...i started these photowalks last year for the fun of it.
I am just trying out a voting/comment system to see how it works and to see how the PSC likes it.
Your more than welcome cafy to start a "PSC Photo Strolls Club".
I think the more people participate in these things...the more the PSC community grows together.

cafn8d wrote: I agree with Blue, too. I like the Photo Walk for the opportunity to share the world through each others' camera lenses. That is enough reward for me. Adding a voting system and critiquing of the photography itself will make it that much more competitive. I might enjoy the critiquing on occasion, when I really am concentrating on the photo itself, but I don't personally want professional-level advice on a quick snapshot I shared just because I thought the subject was worthy.
DB, I really appreciate your time, energy, and ideas you put in to your Photo Walks! Thank you for doing them. If you do continue to develop the Photo Walk further into a sort of photography workshop and competition (both aspects of which many people would enjoy!), may I expand on it for the casual snapshot shooters?
With your permission, I would like to set up a monthly or bi-monthly "Snapshot Stroll" sort of thing... an informal coordination on certain weekends for people to share a corner of their world through online photo albums (and comments) in a thread. No winners, no photography critiques (unless expressly requested by the photographer), and no pressure. Just sharing photos for the simple sake of sharing, nothing more, nothing less. The "strolls" would not compete with the Photo Walks; I'd coordinate so as not to pick the same weekends. I think many people, like myself, would enjoy doing both. What do you think?

maybe your rating could be added to the people's vote, making your decision a key factor in the end

I gotta say, an online photo competition is fraught with issues, one of which is pc vid card/monitor/settings/gamma/contrast/color balance issues. I have competed in many contests and what looks great on my monitor may not on someone else's
One classic case happened to me in that on the same picture one person commented the image was too dark, while another complained it was too light.
You just can't take these things too seriously.

There are several tools out there to calibrate your monitor
such as "Spyder3" or "Displaymate". I know in the printing
and online world...for some of us...this is a must.

I know that, YOU know that, but does everyone looking/voting know and have that?
That's my point.

I see both points. And what Blue said makes a lot of sence.
But... I never leave my house without a camera... work or otherwise... So, nothing stops me from making photo's, but dont care about voting systems.
Prob is... to much photo's. Takes a lote of time to look at them all and than voting???
I look 3, 5, 10 times if it is a great photo. To see the light... where was the sun, how comes that shadow over there... what time was it? And sometimes just cause I love the photo for no reason at all.
Try to keep up the spirit here by chopping every day... and I don't have many more time to spend. I vote for the chops in my sleep.
Please limited the number of photo's, say 3, and don't do this every month.
This is photoshopcontest and we have other things here, like H2H, ScavHunt, etc. etc.
Don't make this to big.. otherwise it lose its charm.
(This is Tes-English without a dictionary... so good luck reading)

Caveman says: "you put marks on cave paintings...we no likey count marks"
DB replies: "Me makey one time count marks...then no more. Maybe me make wood burn...rubs me sticks together"
Caveman and DB: "Agreed....we roast viking on stick now"
