I just don't know how the voting would work if the contest will be held in a forum thread. There are almost 30 participants already, someone must explain the mechanics. I believe it is better to do it as 1 of the regular daily contest. One more advantage is it will become a part of official contests unlike in the thread, it will be easily forgotten or misplaced among the so many threads already.

One possibility is next SPEED CHOP we all just commit to doing a GIFFY. Highest voted GIFFY for that contest wins.
Sure, there would be NON-GIFFY's in there, but that would add to the interest factor: can us GIFFY FOLK grab a good chunk of the votes with our Amazing Animated Images?
So
A) we do it in a THREAD setup, good news we control the thread and it is just about GIFFY's, bad news is it will get messy and confusing if we get 20~30 entries to track
B) we do it in a Speed Chop, good news is that way no one gets an advantage, normal voting applies, bad news is we mix it up with non-Giffy (may not be bad news) and also bad for some is you get no time to work on your Giffy which would suck if you are a newb at this.
[note: Next Speed chop is the 23rd, so newbies would have a couple weeks to learn GIFFYization techniques]

Only challenge was (if I remember correctly cuz that was a LONG time ago - Nancer would know better as she is FROM long time ago! ) it requires PAIRING UP so only two members went at it at a time, side by side with all the other "couples" going at it in different rounds. (hmmm... that kinda sounds like fun. 70's fun. )
Again, with 20~30 entries that would take a while to get to a winner... also, on Head-to-Head (H2H) contests, each round has a different source, so it would be a big commitment for members who entered. As Rey or Claf... you do a LOT of choppin if you get to the final rounds!

Since we all know that it is a giffy contest then non giffy may enter but might not get many votes

Was wondering if the parameters could be used not only for this comp but other forum contest could benifit from the control aspect...if ya get what I mean
