how many ??
i mean the legs...
102 legs on one side.. lol
i ended up with about 235 layers (give or take) when it was all said and done.
Here is the funny thing, there is no "actual source" in this pic.
Instead, I made a couple of brushes from the lightbulb to build the bulk of his body. Hand drew, painted and detailed the head, eyes, the shine on its butt, and many places throughout his entire body. each leg was detailed individually as well as his antennae. using dark gray as the main color @62% opacity (and a white background that fit just inside of his body). advanced brush settings, spaced to just overlap, set to follow direction of path, drew a path, then hand the rest to cover any fringe, missing spots in the curves. (I remember rey in his extended profile thread talking about the bird he rebuilt that didnt do as good as he expected, so I reinvented the lightbulb..lol)
The photo is from my front yard, I moved a potted plant so the grass would be smashed and nasty looking. I also hand painted in many other details throughout the grass and muck to give it the right appearance.
Below is a pic with the brushes I made from the lightbulb @
All in all I am very proud of this pic, but im still open to any comments that could improve it even more.
I dont get pissy if someone shows me faults.. I get better.
Below the brushes were set to 62% on the long string (2 sections of threads each) follow direction, and pressure sensitive size.
the lightbulb back-piece is set to 100% black, and the one below it @ 100% Black
I want to thank ReyRey for posting files from his chops, I have learned so much from them, and this millipede is one of those examples. I study those files with great intensity, every layer, every advanced option in the layers palette. I have learned to use so much more of PS due to those files. Masks, paths, subtle but powerful layers.. Amazing dont even come close, but its the best I got.
I also want to thank reinman for the tutorial on paths, sanctuary and blurk for the inspiration.
