I was working on a chop for an upcoming contest. Went to close out Photoshop. I know for a fact that I hit save first before closing. Come back today and I can't find my PSD. It's not in the "Open Recent" files list either and I have that going back to my last 10 files.
I got a long way on that chop too.
Is there any hope of finding it? Like maybe Photoshop has a temp file that I can recover from?
(I just know I'm screwed and will have to start over)

Search your computer sorting by last opened and filetype PSD?

did you save it on an external drive? or someplace weird by accident like a plugged in memory card? My external hard drive goes offline on occasion, so opening up Photoshop will not display any recent files on that drive when it isn't mounted. If you are sure you saved it, it has to be somewhere.

my trick I use is i save something and see where it went incase for some reason it saved elsewhere. It happenes from time to time.
personally, i save a lot.. every version of a file if I make a major upgrade.....
Good luck..
now STUFAC
another possibility I have ran into was if i edited a photo i grabbed from a webpage, it has actually been saved in the temp internet files..
which operating system are you on?

which operating system are you on? Now there's something I hadn't thought of. I had copy/pasted the source when I started. I'll have to look there.
I'm not very hopeful of finding it. Stupid wizard source. I put about two hours into it at the point where I closed.

ohh one more thing... if it happened to land in a system folder, you might have to open your search prefs and allow it to search not only in hidden files and folders, but in system folders as well.
vista and 7 .. when search results come back empty, you can click there to mod the settings.. still win7 and vista search sux.
in xp, its right above the little dog when you click on search button....
mac, in system prefs, you can make a slight adjustment with your password and itll search throughout.
'
(thats why i asked which os )

If you're sure that you hit Save, then it's on your hard drive somewhere. Usually, it saves it to the last folder you had open. If you remember what you named it run a search. If you don't remember what you named it but remember the approximate date, you can run a search by date.

I found it. Rebooted and did a search and POOF! There it was. Wasn't under the couch though.
