I know I have'nt been here long but have noticed a definate pattern regarding voting. Some get all the votes all the time whereas some entries, which are really good, bet very few because their name isnt recognised. I am notnocking the top people because their entries are othewise brilliant but have seen entries that are totally shite been in the top 3 say becaue of their author, therefore I uggest that every comp should be annonymous therefore without a shadow of doubt, removing favouritsmn voting. If you watch the current annontmous contests, the names are generally different than they would be if we knew the entrant.
Just my opinion.

BTW issues.... this topic is about as dead a horse as a dead horse can be. Search the forum for "voting" and you'll see all kinds of threads exactly like this.

Oh and originally all PSC comps were anonymous. But vote whoring kills that concept rather quickly (kinda like it still does now anyway).

In the anonymous I worry that the newbs are not getting votes on their efforts, plus we can't offer an advice/guidance if there's an issue with the chop as such. The balance of anonymous to open dailies is probably about right, IMO anyway. The thing to be remembered at the moment is that voting is low because a lot of people have only been popping in now & again due to work, family, etc.... and also... The H2H is on, people are mostly watching that & lots of people are also busy with that.

We're all hoping it will pick up again soon but until people are able to be here a little more there's nothing going to change.

It is ironic and a little sad that there were so many people on this site intent on bringing back anonymous contests. Procyon acquiesced, giving us the Speed Comps as well.

Unfortunately, there is predictably low voting in anonymous comps, and speed comps are mostly voted by those who are also in the competition. It is also unfortunate that some of the best sources fall on Thursdays. *sigh*

You notice this because it is mostly so.

Vote whoring (voting for someone because they've been nice to you, or because they are the "cool" person on site, or because they are a MOD and can keep you from DISAPPEARING ...) has been here pretty much from day one.

Those of us who have been here a long time have a bit of perspective on this. We kinda KNOW the whores and the whore-lovers. Not much we can do about it but do our best to support the folks that bring actual REAL value to this site.

And Tofu is correct - there are hundreds of threads on this topic already. And now... there is one more.
