Where am I going wrong ?
I admit to being in the novice chopper class, but surely this deserved more than a single vote.(Thanks Kenny)
Is it because i'm not a freemason.. sorry, not an advantaged member! Is it just me, or are we witnessing the death throes of dear old Psc ?

All I can say is that art is subjective. And here it's judged by the people that are familiar with the tools of photoshop so it is judged at a much higher level. This entry didn't appeal to the voters I guess. I've had entries that I spent many hours on that did terrible. I've had others I spent very little effort doing that did extremely well. All I can say is don't get discouraged by one entry that didn't get many votes. Hang in there and keep chopping and the votes will come. You get an A for effort! thumright

No its just not up to your normal standard, yes vote numbers are down but look in your own portfolio and you would have to agree its no where near your normal standard.

Shadows and texture on the front couple is distracting, colour match with back ground and for ground is not right, lighting is of in both faces.

You know you can do better so just suck it up and move on mate.

OK Charlie, I feel your pain, and I understand your frustration.

Blurker is right and its good advice.

As to why I did not vote for it, here goes.

The size of the added couple and their perspective is off. They are also considerable softer than the background, this is a prime issue, the background is simply sharper than the added figures in the foreground and this is a big deal. The cutting out is way too fuzzy and the lighting on them does not match the background. The poster rework on the wall is fine, if you have left it at that you probably would have gotten more votes, but the added couple really weakened the entry.

Anyway, you will do better and get more votes in the future, we all know that. Turn the page, close the door.

And you would think that Kenny would at least have some decent grammer in his vote, you know, just in case it was singled out like this. Gotta be more prepared son. Laughing

sorry that i have to say that, but this is "bulls#it"!!!
half of my winning entries I made without any privileges, like "advantage"!!! and in my opinion I'm a better chopper without advantage...

It happens very often that you think your entry is god-like and then you get just some votes!

so dont be worry BE HA...

This is nothing about having advantage or not.
BL and Al talked about execution flaws. That is right. But I think your idea on that chop was not helping. It is not easy to find a good idea and that also most of people understand & like... that is a good challenge. I saw regularly poor executions with a lot of votes because the ideas were good or brillant... or more "catchy".
So you don't need to feel bad... just try to find the best idea you can find.
... and of course, try to improve your skills.
