PVS, the first item is simple mathematics. I would argue that the 1/1/11 dates are no more unusual than any other dates; their symmetry is appealing, but our eyes are attracted to symmetry. The third item is simply not true. October 2005 had the same configuration, as did October 1994 and October 1983. See the perpetual calendar here:
