ok fine... back to externals...
My entry had no source in it... well, there might be a small section of the coffee filter in there, I can't remember.
I made the straws in photoshop, using a diamond shaped brushed with 25% spacing to make the pink line. I made 6 different straws and copied them several times over, very easy. After placing all the straws I shaded the majority of them individually and individual cast shadows. Of course it looked good to my eyes, but the fresh eyes of PSC suggested they still looked too flat. That's what happens when I stare at something for days, my mind gets used to what I'm looking at and settles for it.
The more obvious coffee filter textures were external.
The spider and spider web were externals.
The background is simple gradient to mimic the bland background of the source.
So Here is my background layer to reference where to put each straw.... I was going to do every beam, even the tiny ones as individual straws, and even the inside of the eiffel tower, but that was WAY too ambitious. My brother suggested I save myself some time and headache and use the coffee filter texture as a wall.
