Hi...I've been playing around with Photoshop for about 4 months and I'm still learning so much. Hopefully, I will learn more while I'm here. A very stupid question but how and where do I d/l photos for the contest? I can't seem to find any related links that will take me to that page. Thanks for the help.

Do you mean the source pics that we use each day or outside sources to use with the daily source?
If you have an advatage account set up, just click on the " advantage " link at the bottom of the page...if you are talking about ouside sources, most people use google...click on " image search " located in the same area...
If you don`t have advantage, then you just have to wait till the morning of the contest to see the source...

I might be wrong, but I think he means how does he download the featured pic.
If that's the case, simply right-click on it and save the image.

Hi Al:
What Irishstu said, unless you're on a Mac... In that case, just click on the featured picture and drag it onto your desktop.

or simply copy the picture and paste it in photoshop. Saves some disc-space... like 50 kb

I grab my digital camera and then take a photograph of the image from my monitor screen. Then I print the picture out into an 8x10 inch print. Then I scan the print and save as a Jpeg. Then I open the jpeg in photoshop and do my chop!
No probs!

I always imagine it, then sketch it out in charcoal then scan that.

I look a the featured pic and memorise all the pixels. Then I open a new pic in photoshop and colour the pixels as I remember them.

Thanks for all the info. I'm really liking this site. Right away I can see that it's not a site just for "experts" and that means I'm in good company. This is not to say that there isn't any talent here because there is. I hope to learn more and to be able to pick up some ideas. Thanks again.

that's what it is all about, learning.
. . . . . well, that and the gross humiliation and group spanking, but more on that anon.

Axplayer, unlike ReinMan I do not have a digital camera. Without Advantage there is simply not enough time to use my film camera to 'capture' the featured pic, use up the rest of the film, get the photos developed, scan it and then chop. Instead I simply lay my monitor 'face' down on my scanner and then scan the image directly into Photoshop.
ReinMan, I might suggest that you give this a try as it cuts a few steps out of your process

Reinman... hmmm... a simple way to get the featured pic is to put your monitor over your scanner, (pay attention: the screen must be over the scanner glass... not the sides, not the back, not the base... remember that) and scan it. So you donīt have to use your digital camera... then you can print it and scan the print and open it in PS. wow
