i had it already before that i made some selection with lasso tool or other tool and that after filling it, it looks horrible jagged. i cant remember how i fixed that.
i dont use feather when i make the selection, cause that looks too blurry for what i wanna do.

anyone an idea?

i remember some options if you select the object/layer and then do modify selection. there was something about border and smooth, as well as feather (again). one of these things could help. might not be the solution anyway. its rather a half-educated guess.... i suggest waiting for the professionals

i know you can modify selections with feather and smooth but its not really what i looked for.
i think namely that it is not normal that if you make a selection and fill it that it looks totally jagged. normally it looks then just uh.. normal..... mine is totally jagged...

i did solve it before... but i really dont know how... something with the tool setting???

maybe in toolsettings 'selection type'? point to point or smart edge?
but wait, i use PSP, so i don't know how comparable they are.
i swear by the pen tool in cutting shapes

for cutting out shapes i also prefer the pen tool, but in this case i dont want to cut something out.

Anti-aliasing! You have to have anti-aliasing checked.

funny thing is...when i make an oval or circle it goes fine..... but with such a shape like in my pic above it will just not work.....

Ah, I didn't notice, it behaves exactly as without antialiasing.

No idea then, maybe check if you don't have layer mode to dissolve by a chance. But probably not.

a layer mask. and a softer brush

use the pen tool

thats one of the way i use...
when you have made the selection,
go to path, make a new path from selection you did

than go ctrl+Enter to make the path a selection.....
now try to fill it again...

dont use feather cause it sux

I would rather see jagged cardboard cutout edges than blurry feathered ones..

use the pen tool or a layer mask... I like masks and some like the pen tool...
to me its easier to just pick or make a brush for each cut out and quick or normal mask it..

with a normal mask you have the option of duplicating it and putting it on new layers.. Or inverting it on a new layer gives you a clever way to blend. you can also put it on a new layer and unlock it then move your image around and not the mask.. this is also helpful..

but when painting use the pen tool and save your selections as paths..

hmm... ok..... with the pen tool it works fine... i can draw whatever shape, make selection and fill it.
i guess thats the right way then.

and lasso tool sucks then..i thougth i used it before without problems, but i guess my memory is fooling me.
