Hello, everybody.
I am new to this site; and I would like to say "hello" and whatnot. I am looking forward to learning more about Photoshop and improving my skills using the program.
One of my recent entries (from the Video Card contest) was my favorite sofar, but it isn't doing so well vote-wise. I understand votes aren't terribly important in the long run and that one should have fun on this site...but, I am just wondering what I could have improved to receive more votes on this image.
http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/77527/display.html
I thought the perspective was okay and I was mindful of shadows, etc. The top of the enterprise looks a bit "wonky" with the chip being stretched to the edge. Any other comments / suggestions. I am not looking for more votes...but suggestions would be very helpful! (you can look at my other "chops" and suggest on those if you would like, too)
Lots of the work I see on here is quite impressive! I've said "how did he/she do that?!" to myself many times upon seeing some of the entries. Thus, your comments and suggestions are very appreciated. I also look forward to speaking with you guys. You seem to be a cool group of people!
Thanks!

I think the Borg ship and the planet are nice, but the Enterprise i find actually disturbing. The blue is too blue and the quality is uhm... pretty bad if i compare it with the rest of your picture. I think that can be the reason that it gets less votes.
Personally i would have taken an original photo of the Enterprise and combined that with your Borg ship, planet and background.

"Disturbing"... Wow. *lol*
Thanks for the suggestion. It would've been a lot easier to just use a stock picture of the enterprise.

Hey
The chop aint bad at all- lotta effort, and clean work.
Outer-space and star trek just generally
doesn't get votes.
I'd have to say--if yer concerned about getting votes and
-more importantly- havin' fun, or learning something,,,,,,
look at the source and let YOUR imagination run wild--
then try to put that down in a chop.
Lessee what happens.
Personally I've been trying to perfect turning items into "glass"
Did about twenty chops on that alone in the last month and a half.
When I get it right, I'll enter something--
Glass is a COOL "Trans-for-ma-tion" and
quite honestly I have never seen it done exactly perfect--CLOSE, but not
perfect.
heh, Good Luck and have FUN!

I don't know who that is, but hopefully that's not *too* bad of a thing.

Hmm. Thanks, bud. Maybe I should've had added a Borg Squirrel or something.
I tried the turning-into-glass thing on a quick post in the 3 Mugs contest... It wasn't anything spectacular, but that was just a quick/fun last-minute chop anyway. I would like to learn the "glass" technique myself. As I said earlier, some of the entries on here are quite "realistic." One day, I would like to be able to make images like that!
Take care.

Hmmm. Not a bad entry, Goat... Looks like a good effort.
However, I think what lost you votes is the inconsistency in clarity in the enterprise, and also the "over-skewed" look of some of the enterprise's pieces.
Keep chopping!
P.S. I love the blue...it's my favorite color.
