I was showing the site to a co-worker yesterday. He wanted to see what kind of quality was being done on the site. I took him to the all-time records page and this led us to think about how the contest show 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes. However the all-time records page only shows the top entry for each category (i.e. most votes, most entries, etc.). How about linking to the top three of each category on the all-time records page? Otherwise visitors have no way of knowing anything other than the top dawg.
Also I noticed that the all-time page's URL is a .html file. Is that one not fed by the database? If not then how current is it?

On the "Contests" page-- you have the option of seeing only the winners--
that ought to do it for ya

No that's not what I'm looking for.
Showing just the winners does not show the top three in a readily retrievable way. Instead you'd have to page through each one to find the highest vote getters (currently 20 pages). This also doesn't let you find the three most popular contests (by number of entries).
I would like to see a quick way to bring up the three most popular chops of all time, the three most popular contests of all time, the three most successful choppers of all time, etc., etc., etc.
Now if that page had a sort link like the regular contest pages do that would be another story...

Ouch! ok, hate to tell ya but that won't work.
See the voting levels change around here--going by most votes will not actually give you the top three all timers anyway-- not much more than a year ago, I believe the all-time
highest vote was around forty--so the top three would actually only be accurate for the last couple months or so.
If you want Opinions on what the three best ever were, you'd get a better answer.
I have about a dozen that are fairly tied for that first place-
all just incredible chops that are overwhelmingly great ---
just different styles and concepts. Can't realy compare the greatest
POV change to the greatest out of the box, or YPA perspective inversion.
Just to be helpful, I'd look at the profiles of J-elzic, the202,Metalic,Billtvshow,YerPalAl,
Ledirlo, and a few others. Ask around. Have Fun.

It could work. I'm a programmer I do these types of things for a living (database analysis that is).
The date of the contests is known. The date of memberships are known. Factor the two together and take the weighted percentage of members at the time of the vote/contest. Possibly even weigh that by the number of active members at the time of the contest (there's a "last seen" date in their profile but it may not be too accurate if it came as an afterthough field). Could even factor in the total number of votes in that contest compared to how many a particular chop got. Basically it would be a PSCore for the chop itself and not for the member who did the chop. It wouldn't be extremely accurate but it would be a close approximation.
Remember the whole point of the idea is to present a good sample of varied entries to visitors anyway.

totally off tangent but i think on the standing page you have the most wins toggle tab, I think the 2nd's and 3rd's should be included here too, so people can get a better idea of how successful they are.
I also think the 2nd's and 3rd's should be included on the profile page along with the Wins stat.
What can I say I like to see how people are doing, without having to trawl through everyones portfolio.
Not that I sometimes dont mind doing that, but this would be a time saver for many that do not have the time

Here's a silly addition you could add: The record holder for the user with most forum posts!

Yes! Exactly what I think too.
I also had a thought last night (I wrote my last post right before going to sleep). It wouldn't matter if the top three were the most successful of the last couple months. Most votes means just that. Period. If there are more people now then there are more people here now.

Well... that would be about the only chance I'd stand of ever making it onto the "all-time record holders" page! So I say YES to that suggestion...

Again, as said in the other thread everyone is referring to, if you dont like the stats, dont read them. If there are people that want to see stuff like this, its seems it wouldnt do any harm to the rest of us, we just dont need to look.
