This is a 2006 idea. I do not take responsibility for any skewed views on ..anything. So shut up.
Hello again. Do not judge me too soon about opening a new thread - this is a good one:
Here you are going to review a fruit, like apples, oranges or qumquats(or whatever they're called). I'll go first, since I'm almost the only one to know of this at this moment (BillTV knows too).
Of course, a good thread needs some guidelines:
1. You must, if able, post pictures of you enjoying the fruit.
2. You must write down how to prepare your chosen fruit.
3. You should not review a fruit that is reviewed already.
4. You have to use humor. If you have none, consider drugs.
It is legal to leave a comment. This thread is not only for reviews.
POMELO
-------
The Pomelo (
Citrus maxima) is a citrus fruit. It's green or yellow.
The Pomelo is a genetically altered grapefruit. It's much sweeter in taste, and much larger.
To "dismantle" the Pomelo, you have to do the following:
1. Buy a pomelo. I got it for two dollars in my local supermarket. The cashier is going to use ages to find the fruit in the store's code-system, so you should tell him\her that it's a Pomelo, and it's under P in the registry.
2. Get a knife. A good knife is usually a knife with a sharp blade and a good grip. My knife qualified well. It has tiny ^'s underneath it, so it can rip up pomelo-skin easily.
3. Cut the Pomelo. I cut it in half.
I lifted the little "lid" off, and ripped out a little part of the white fluffy cotton-candy-look-a-like stuff that was in there, around the Kernel. Did you know, the actual name of that stuff is "pith"? It's real definition is "usually continuous central strand of spongy tissue in the stems of most vascular plants that probably functions chiefly in storage". Neat.
Ratings:
The outer part of the Pomelo was like all citruses, filled with acid. The pomelo-acid, or ZEST, as you guys call it, is stronger than orange-acid, but you can still use it on your ice-cream. 3/10
The fluffy part tasted like grapefruit. Horrible. But the form and the fluffiness made it the best pillow-filling I've never tried, so its getting 5/10.
The meat was really good. Probably the best citrus I've tasted in years. It was perfectly sweetened, but the actual amount of meat was not pleasing. 7/10
The looks were great. Never had I seen such a great citrus fruit. 9/10
Allover Pomelo-rating: 6/10.
