Sounds nice...it's supposed to run 2 times faster than the iMac G5.

For those getting all revved up about the new iMac with the Intel chip (if any of you actually are), just remember: you never buy the first of anything that comes out. I have spoken to several sales people and to my technician (yes, my own technician...he came with my computer) and all have said that if you intend to do graphics, stay away from this computer.

The reason is that the software needed to run on this computer must be written in a universal language, so that the Intel chip can use it. So far, none of our favourite programs have been written using this language. (please forgive my high tech lingo )

It will take anywhere between 8 months to over a year before the new iMac/Intel computer will be of any use to us.

Again, this is what I've heard, and I speak four languages (five, really, but nobody understands me when I speak the fifth).

Just thought I'd let you know before you bought one.

Photoshop was most likely written in C++. This is a universal programming language and one of the best multi-platform, object-oriented, programming languages in existence.

The evidence disproving your technician is that there's a version for the Mac and PC. Since there's already a version that runs on Intel chips the more likely the problem would be with the Intel version of OS X.

This runs true for many operating systems and computers. Don't buy the first set. Wait for other eager beavers to do the bug hunting. Get the second generation.

Sounds like the problem is writing programs that support running on BOTH platforms (Motorola and Intel). The idea being that new versions of PS will work on the new MacIntels as well as the older Macs without having to maintain seperate source code for each.

OK...maybe things were lost in translation. But he did mention something about something needing to be universal (maybe the application...I don't know. My fault, not his!)
